Our process doesn’t start in a factory — it starts in forests. And our foam isn’t pumped by a machine, but carefully processed by the loving hands of rural communities in Tanzania.
We’ve always known that nature has everything humans need and that’s why we’re replacing synthetic, plastic-based fibres with a natural, biodegradable fibre that comes from kapok fruits.
The mighty kapok tree produces these fruits with an incredible, soft, silky and versatile fibre. We work with a network of rural harvesters across Tanzania who collect the fruits from forest and village floors, and bring them into micro-processing centres where they are peeled, de-seeded and packed — ready to head to our tailoring workshop in Dar es Salaam.
In Dar, Bahati leads a team of tailors who cut, fill and stitch every product by hand.
Every fibre we use carries remarkable natural properties — for you, for communities, and for the planet.
Kapok fibre breaks down naturally on the forest floor, returning to the earth with zero toxic residue.
By giving kapok fruits a monetary value, communities are incentivised to protect the trees so they can harvest and earn year on year.
Gives remote, rural and often impoverished forest and coastal communities a reliable income opportunity.
Kapok trees are drought resilient and predictable, helping diversify and strengthen incomes stressed by climate change.
In villages where elephants destroy crops, kapok trees create an income that isn’t vulnerable to wildlife disruption.
Most soft furniture is filled with synthetic, plastic-based materials. Kapok is a natural, non-toxic and chemical-free alternative.
Kapok fibre naturally conforms to the body, providing comfortable, supportive cushioning with exceptional resilience.
Kapok’s smooth, hollow fibres are naturally resistant to dust mites and allergens, ideal for sensitive households and pet owners.
Every step of our process is intentional, traceable and rooted in community. From the forest floor to your living room, kapok travels through the hands of people who care deeply about the land and what they make.
Rural harvesters across Tanzania collect kapok fruits from forest and village floors, earning a fair income while protecting the trees.

Bahati leads a team of skilled tailors who cut, fill and stitch every product entirely by hand at our workshop.
Each finished product carries the story of the forests, communities and hands that made it possible.
Every product you choose supports the harvesters, the tailors and the forests that make it possible.
